Headin to the hospital today!!

Good Morning to all and hope your weekend was as great as ours.

I would have to say that Stevie had a wonderful weekend. Friday night we all went eat out with my parents for Shawn’s 40th Birthday and feel as though we all enjoyed our family time out on the town. Saturday Stevie slept at her friend Lydia’s house and made cupcakes and Sunday morning headed to church with them and then they were off to see Disney Live. Thought for sure she would be ready to come home afterwards but nope wanted to go to her Dee Dee and Pawpaw’s. So she is there now but will be going pick her up shortly to make it to her 9:30 appt with Dr. Morad before making our way to the hospital.

Shawn and I had no kids at home Saturday night so he and I went out for an adult evening and had a blast. Sunday he went do a lil christmas shopping and then came home and completed a few Honey Do’s and boy was I excited. Thank you honey!

Of course I am not all that excited to go spend 2 nights in the hospital but ready to go and get it over with so we can make it to our Christmas party at Miles Perret put on by Our Ladies of Harley! Thanks ladies and can’t wait to meet all of you!

May each and everyone of you have a great week and will update as soon as I am able. I ask that you all please pray for Stevie as she undergoes 3 days of chemo. I hope that she does not get sick and we breeze right through this!!

Much love to all!!!

Change in plans….

As I had mentioned before she was supposed to go inpatient for more chemo on December 16th for 2 nights but then I remembered that we were invited to a Christmas Party at Miles Perret put on by Our Ladies of Harley. We are one of 4 families and would not want to miss it for the world so I called Robin, Dr. Morad’s nurse, and asked if there was any chance that we could go inpatient Monday, Dec 14 so that she will be out Wednesday and have a night to recover before Thursday night and Dr. Morad approved.  I am sure she will be feeling a lil under the weather but hopefully the party will brighten her spirits.

Also, our neighbor 2 doors down, David LeBlanc, who is with the Knights of Columbus contacted us a few weeks back in regards to the KC’s taking kids Christmas shopping and wanted to know if we were interested and if he could send someone over to interview us so John who is also with the KC’s came by last week and interviewed myself, Shawn and Stevie.  After they interviewed cveryone all the guys of the KC’s got together this past Monday and decided on the kids they will be bringing and Stevie and Beau were picked.  Both Stevie and Beau are soooo excited!!  We have to bring them to the church this Saturday at 6 am and all the kids load up on a bus and head to Walmart singing Christmas Carols the whole way.  Once at Walmart they have an hour to shop with a chaperone and pick out WHATEVER they want.  Stevie more than likely will take the ENTIRE hour….lol!! I am sure she will putting things in and out her basket until she decides.  Should be a ball for both of them.

Shawn and I can not express our appreciation for all that everyone and our community has done for us and our family.  We are so very blessed.  I am here to say that we will defenitely “PAY IT FORWARD”!!!!

Well today is Shawn’s BIG 40 birthday!!!  We will be going out to eat tonight with the family and my mom and dad and we are looking forward to it.  Was thinking of throwing Shawn a surprise party this weekend but figured a lil escape somewhere together is much needed and would be very enjoyable.  We let all know what we do.

May all of you stay warm and have a great rest of the week.

Much love from our family to yours!!

Week off!

Good morning to all…Hope all you had a great weekend just as we did.

On Saturday Stevie went to a movie with her Nanny and Zak and then they were off to Toys R us for Stevie to pick out something for Christmas from her Nanny but somehow she managed to get Nanny to give her one of her gifts early! Hmmmmm she is something else I tell ya! ;-)

Beau went to his Dads this weekend and Shawn and I pretty much laid around majority of the weekend and watched movies. It was very nice and quite relaxing. Saturday was the only day that I got out and that was to go to my cousin’s baby shower….it was very nice! Best of luck Rachel and Trey! We love you…..and cant wait to meet LILY GRACE!!!

Well, we are off this week from all doctor appts but Thursday is Daddy’s 40th Birthday!!! Whooohooo! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!

Stevie is doing great, eating well and very excited for the week off!!

May all of you have a fantastic week!

Much love from us to you!!

Levels are good!

Got a call from Robin (Dr. Morad’s nurse) yesterday afternoon and all of Stevie’s blood levels look good so he is giving her a 2 week break….YEAH!! We have to go see him Dec 16th at 9:30 before heading back into the hospital for more chemo.

Being we don’t have to get out today looks like we will be staying in our Pj’s and watching Nick Jr (Stevie’s favorite channel) and possibly doing a lil arts and crafts. Sounds like a good day to me! May even light the fireplace!!

May all of you stay warm and dry today!

Much love to all!

What a week!!!

Once again I am sooo sorry for not updated sooner and I have no excuses except for Stevie’s puppy chewed the cord to our internet and was without this weekend. Grrrrr!!!

First I hope all of you had a Happy Turkey Day as we did. We have so very much to be Thankful for. We went to my parent’s house and filled our bellies with plenty of turkey and pork roast and all the fixings. Hats off to all the cooks!

Well last week we went in for Stevie’s weekly blood levels and Robin called us afterward to let us know that Stevie’s levels were extremely low and she would need a blood transfusion. We went to Women’s & Children’s Wednesday for the transfusion and all went well except for the fact that we got there at 10:00 and the transfusion did not start until 12:15 and it was a 4 hour transfusion, but while there Laughter Therapy came in which was 3 clowns and they did a couple of magic tricks and made balloons. Stevie got a Tinker Bell, Tigger, and Twitty Bird. I had Beau and Derek with us and they also each received a balloon. Of course Beau got a tiger balloon (MIke the Tiger – LSU) and Derek got a lion. All the balloons were totally awesome!! It was Laughter Therapy’s first time to make a visit to Womens and I personally thought it was a BIG hit! Glad we were there when they came!!

Stevie is still gaining a lil weight….she is now up to 39 pounds. We went to Dr. Morad’s office today for them to check her levels but I can definitely tell she is feeling a lil better after getting the blood bc she had gotten really pale and found that she was short of breath but now seems to have a lil more energy. She is scheduled to go back inpatient for more chemo on Dec 16 for 2 nights. Very grateful we won’t be in there for Christmas!!

Well it’s starting to feel like a Christmas Wonderland around our house. All the lights are up in the front and BACK yard, Christmas Tree is up and some Christmas gifts bought. After I am finished blogging I am going lock myself in my room and begin to wrap presents. FUN FUN!!

We took Stevie and her friend Lydia to Disney on Ice weekend before last and Stevie loved it. She became a lil tired towards the end so she snuggled up on her Daddy and rested til it was over. I think we ALL enjoyed it or at least I know I did!! ;-)

May all of you have a great day and will update as soon as I have new news!!

Much love and hugs and kisses from Stevie and Family!

Ready for the weekend!

We went for chemo yesterday and Stevie gained 2 POUNDS!!!  She was 36.4 last Wednesday and was 38.4 yesterday!!  I take it the medicine is working! ;-) YEAH!!  But the ONLY problem is she may eat us out of house and home! LOL!!

She is taking Accutane again for 14 days and boy what a nightmare.  It is 3 gel cap pills twice a day and she can not swallow them so I have tried everything in the book such as boiling water and putting in sringe and shaking until the pills dissolve but she gags and spits it out, I tried doing the same thing with cherry juice but does not dissolve the pills, I have tried puncturing the pills and squeezing the inside part out but it’s sooo greasy that it sticks to the medicine cup and so she is not getting the medicine the way she needs to.  I went to a local mom and pop pharmacy to see if they would compound it but they don’t even mess with Accutane bc it’s such a controlled med.  There has to be someone in town who can compound it.  If anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to share!!

We are ready for the weekend bc Shawn and I are going “talk to Santa”…hee hee!!  Of course I asked Stevie what she wants Santa to bring her and she told me it’s a surprise.  I told her if she does not tell me then I can’t tell Santa and she said “No Mom I already mailed him what I want”.  And well she did…..she went through a Target and Toys R Us sales paper and cut out EVERYTHING she wants (which was everything in the sales paper) and put them in an envelope and wrote “Stevie  I want  Santa”.  She must have had 10 of them and I am not kidding.  It is too cute.  Of course the mailman got to 3 of them before I could take them out of the mailbox but he took them.  She even put some of them in our neighbors mailbox too.  I pulled the others out that she did and I am going to write the date on them and show her when she gets older!!!

Well I FINALLY got her room cleaned.  It was a all day affair but it’s done.  HIP HIP HORRAY!!!!

One last thing……Anyone want a chance to win an Offshore fishing trip???  It’s $20 a chance and we will have a WINNER by the end of next week.  Please email me if you are interested and I can send all the details!!

Well that’s all I have for now but may all of you have a blessed weekend!

Things are going well

So far so good! Stevie went for more chemo at Dr. Morad’s office last Wednesday and she lost a lil more weight but he gave her a medicine that helps increase her appetite and boy it works. She has been eating 3 bowls of rice and gravy at a time, ice cream, apple sauce, bananas, cookies, and on and on. It’s great to see her hungry again.

Last Thursday was my birthday and it was a great one and I thank everyone for the birthday wishes.

Our weekend was awesome. Weather was wonderful and had all the kiddies here and we all hung out and finished putting up all the Christmas lights outside. It looks like a Winter Wonderland. Now I am just patiently waiting for the Christmas trees to be put out so we can go buy one. Yes I know it’s early but we are excited to be home to enjoy it. Stevie said told me the other day ” Momma I think I am really going to like this Christmas”. That makes my heart smile!!

The plans for this week are to take Stevie for more chemo on Wednesday and CLEAN STEVIE’S ROOM and yes Aunt Karen….put the pics on Stevie’s website!

Thanks again to all of you who continuously keep updated with Stevie’s journey!!

5 days after chemo

It has been 5 days since she had her 3 different kinds of chemos and seems to be tired and droopy again. Appetite is gone again as well. She only had maybe 5 bites of a Cinnamon Poptart yesterday and only 3 oreo cookies today. Dr. Morad did say that her appetie would probably decrease and it sure did.

Stevie also woke up this morning and said “Momma I did not sleep too good” so I asked her if anything was wrong and she responded by saying “well I dont think I feel to good but I dont know whats wrong”. I am sure it’s the chemo and hope she bounces back quickly. She does have to go in on Wednesday for more chemo but it is one of the ones she was getting once a week in Houston.

Now to the excitement……Shawn and I went yesterday and bought a few things to start decorating our house inside and out for Christmas!!! We already put up a few things in our back yard and I am wrapping the post with red ribbon today. It is SOOO much fun because I know how excited she will get when she sees it ALL done. She is already telling us (and everyone else) what she wants for Christmas…all you have to do is watch Nick and every commercial you see is what she wants….lol! Hmmmm….she might take over the whole house soon!!

Ok and for those of you waiting for pics from her last day of radiation, the benefit and halloween….my goal this week is to figure out how to upload the pics onto her website. Pops (Mr. David) is the one who did it all the first time, but he did send me instructions, so thanks Pop!!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

And thanks to all of you who are praying for lil Charloette….she just had surgery yesterday to put in the shunt and is doing well and going home today!
